Why You Should Get an Evergreen Park Public Library Card

  • Check out materials from the tens of thousands of items in the Evergreen Park Public Library collection, including books, magazines, music CDs, audiobooks, DVDs, and more!

  • Download free ebooks and audiobooks to your digital device through Media on Demand.

  • Request any of the 7 million items listed in the SWAN online catalog, and it will be delivered, free, to any library in our system that you select for pick-up.

  • Use the Internet, Microsoft Office applications, and Ancestry.com from library computers and laptops.

  • Visit our Online Resources page from your home, school, or office, including The Chicago Tribune, Consumer Reports, Public Records, and HeritageQuest. This is specialized information available only by subscription and free to Evergreen Park Public Library cardholders.

Library cards are issued to all Evergreen Park residents without charge upon

  • Completing and signing an application.
  • Presenting a current valid ID with photo, name, and Evergreen Park address (driver's license with current address or state identification card or other government-issued identification card).

If any of the above is not available, the following current (6 months or less) proof-of-residency forms may be used and MUST be accompanied by a photo ID labeled with the patron's name:

  1. Utility bill (gas, electric, water, telephone, or cell phone).
  2. Motor vehicle registration card.
  3. Property transfer certificate or lease or mortgage statement.
  4. Class schedule.
  5. Public aid or Medical aid ID card.
  6. Bank statement.
  7. Credit card statement.
  8. Paycheck stub.

Educator Library Card

Evergreen Park Public Library will issue educator library cards at no charge to administrators, teachers, and teacher aides who reside outside the library's service area and are currently employed in Evergreen Park Elementary School District 124, Evergreen Park Community High School District 231, or Most Holy Redeemer School.

An educator must complete an application and present a current school ID and current ID verifying home address. Use is limited to the individual whose name appears on the card. The cardholder is responsible for all fines and fees for overdue, damaged, or lost materials. Cards expire at the end of the current academic year, and may be renewed at the beginning of each academic year if there are no delinquencies and the educator remains employed by the local educational entity.

Business Library Card

Evergreen Park Public Library will issue one non-resident library card without payment of the non-resident to:

  • Individuals residing beyond the jurisdictional boundaries of Evergreen Park Public Library, but owning taxable property within the jurisdictional boundaries of Evergreen Park Public Library
  • Senior Administrative Officer of a firm, business, or other corporation owning taxable property within the jurisdictional boundaries of Evergreen Park Public Library.

Chicago Public Library and Non-SWAN Reciprocal Library Card

Non-SWAN library patrons can take out books and other materials using their Chicago Public Library or any library card issued in the state of Illinois. Patrons must bring their valid library card to be entered into our system. We will confirm that the account is in good standing with the home library. Non-SWAN library patrons should also present a valid ID card with photo, name, and address.

The reciprocal borrower's card may be used to check out most library items from the Evergreen Park Public Library and other public libraries in the SWAN system. These cards allow the user to request materials from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan with a limit of 5 holds on the account. Any out-of-system requests (OCLC) must be done through the patron's home library. Reciprocal borrower's can access a computer with a guest pass at no charge.
